TARAKOHE CEMENT WORKS.
DISPUTE STILL UNSETTLED. NELSON, September 19. The Tarakoho Cement Works trouble is still unsettled. At a conference between the directors of the company and the Federation' of Labour the foreman submitted ah offer to increase the pay for waterside work from Is 6d an hour'ordinary and Is lOd overtime to Is lOd and 2s 9d respectively, payment for cement work to be on the same basis of tho Northern Cement Union's award. The offer was rejected by a mass meeting yesterday. A further conference wdl be held at Wellington, and there are hopes of a satisfaclcry settlement. Meanwhie the works remain idle.
