POLICE OFFICERS' PROMOTION.
TIMARU CREATED A DISTRICT. WELLINGTON, August 25. The following promotions and transfers in the Police Force are announced: Inspector M'Grath, of Napier, promoted superintendent, and will take charge of the Dunedin district, in place of Superintendent Wright, who takes the place vacated by Superintendent Kiely (retired) at Auckland. Inspector Marsack, of Wellington, will be transferred to Napier. Sub-inspectors Broberg and M'llveney have been promoted inspectors, and will remain at Wellington at present. A new district has been created at Timnru, including surrounding stations, and will be conducted by Sub-inspector Hastie, who is promoted to the rank of inspector. Senior Serjeant Emerson, of Wellington, has been promoted sub-inspector, filling the position vacated by Inspector M'llveney, who takes the position vacated by Inspector Marsack.
