In response to a number of requests, Mjf John M'Donald has decided to stand foi* Dunedin South as a Labour-Liberai candidate at the forthcoming elections. A meeting of supporters of Mr C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., was held at Eltham on the 10th, when ho definitely announced that! he would not be a candidate for re-election at the forthcoming parliamentary poll. A. further meeting is to be called to select * successor. Major A. H. Wilkie, of Ohakune, who recently returned from tho front, is to ba asked to allow himself to be nominated for the Taumarunui seat at the general election. Mr W. P. Black, who describes himself as a "sane Labour candidate," and who waa to have stood for the Bay of Islands, announces his intention to oppose the Hon. J. T. Paul in the contest for the Dunedin South seat at the next election. Mr O. Danahey, a resident of Featherston. announces his intention of contesting the Wairarapa - seat. Mr J. T. M. Hornsby, the present member for Wairarapa, will again be a candidate at the coming elections. Mr J. J. Corry, Mayor of Blenheim, will be a candidate for the Wairau seat at tho general election. Mr R. 0. Fulbrook,' now a resident of Napier, who unsuccessfully stood for Wellington Suburbs at the Jast elections, has decided to contest the Napier seat. Mr C. E. Major announces his intention of standing as a candidate for Manukau in the Liberal-Labour interest. Tho present member for that district is Sir Frederick Lang. . • Mr J. S. Dickson, the sitting member for Parnell, has announced his intention of standing again for the seat in the Reform interest at the next general election. It is definitely announced that Mr Karika Paeahu, of Cambridge, has decided to contest the Western Maori seat against tho Hon. Dr Pomarc, at the general election. TIMARU, August 25. In replying to a representative deputation' which waited on him a fortnight ago, Mr James Craigie, M.P., has agreed to contest the Timaru seat at the coming election aa a supporter of progressive measures.
