SEQUEL TO TRAM ACCIDENT.
CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. A case arising out of tho tram smash near Heathcote bridge was heard in the Supremo Court to-day, Andrew Clark, a foreman carpenter, claiming £5Ol damages from the Tramway Board for injuries received. Plaintiff stated that he suffered bruises on the body and injuries to his spine and nervous system, and since tho accident was incapacitated from work. He was suffering, and was likely to suffer for some time to come, from the effects of the shock and from nervous disorders. The board paid £2OO into court, and did not file a defence, counsel submitting that the only question to be decided was wliether the £2OO was sufficient. The jury awarded plaintiff £375, costs.
