REPATRIATION BOARD.
The following applications for assistance were dealt with at Thursday's meeting of the Otago District Repatriation Board. Business Loans. —Fifteen applications were received, amounting to £2330; Seven, representing £llsO, were approved; five, totalling £520, wero held over; two, amounting to £4OO, were withdrawn at the request of the applicants; and one for £l5O declined. Furniture Loans.'—Twenty applications were received, amounting to £940 3s. Seventeen, representing £793, were approved, and three, totalling £147 3s, were held over. Transportation.—Two applications were received tnd approved. Ten apm'entices applied to have their wages made tip to £3. Six applications wero approved, three wero held over, and one declined. Three soldiers who are unable to follow their pre-war occupations were placed m new trades, and their ■wages subsidised. Six soldiers were granted assistance, to purchase tools of trade. Nine applications for assistance ir. teohnical and university training were dealt with. Six were approved, one withdrawn, one held over, and one declined.. At the request of the board, Colonel T. W. M'Donald was in attendance.
