The annual football match between the North and South Island jockeys attracted a very large attendance (says the Lyttclton Times of the 11th). Great interest was taken in the game, which resulted in a win for the South Island by nine points (three tries) to threo points (one try). A handsome silver challenge cup, the gift of Mr W. J. Holmes, of Riccarton, was in competition for the first time, and it will be held for a. year by L..-Hegarty, captain of the South Island team.
