M‘DO WALL. —In loving memory of James M’Dowall, who made the supreme sacrifice “Somewhere In France” on August 16, 1917. dearly beloved eldest son of Eobert and Fanny M'Dowall; In his 22nd year. It is not the tear at the moment shed. When the cold turf has just been laid o’er him, That can tell i how beloved was the soul that’s fled Or how deep in our hearts we deplore him—'Tis the tear through many a long day wept. There is a vacant place in the dear old home, , There are hearts that loved him true, There's a prayer dm the bps of those who are left For you, dear boy, for you. Morrison, Military Cross (2nd Canterbury Eegiment, N.Z.E.P.), who died from wounds received while on active service in France on August 15, 1917; aged 27 years. We who love him eadly miss him, And, as it dawns another year, In the lonely hours of thinking Thoughts of . him are very dear. Though the voice wo love is silent. Though his form we cannot see.
