RETURNING SOLDIERS
MOVEMENTS OF TRANSPORTS. WELLINGTON, August 14. The transport Ayrshire, with draft No. 282, left Home on August 5, and is due at Lyttelton about September 19, with 671 troops. The Tainui, with draft No. 283, left on August 8, and is due at Wellington about September 21, with 402 troops, 83 women, and 29 children. The Corinthic, with draft No. 284, left on August 9, and is due at Wellington about September 22, with 404 troops, 359 women, and 78 children. A" wireless message states that the Port Hacking, with draft No. 275, nominally due at Lyttelton about the 16th, will not reach that port until noon on August 20. Latest advice received by the local Defence office is to the effect that the Port Hacking will now reach Lyttelton until August 20. The authorities are also advised that the Somerset (due at Lyttelton on August 19) and the Mamari (due at Auckland on August 17) cannot reach their destinations on the dates named. They will probably be two or three days late.
