A SUBMARINE BASE.
PICTON SOUNDS. WELLINGTON, January 15. While at Picton the Hon. Mr Wilford llinister of Marine) had a conference with jio local authorities on the question of
using Picton Harbour and the sounds as a submarine baso for New Zealand. Viceadmiral Halsey's approval was quoted as sufficient warranting for the idea. The Minister 6aid he had advocated the claims of the harbour, both in and out of Parliament.
