'A peculiar idea of generosity resulted in a case being called at the Magistrate's Court on. the 13th (the Lyttelton Times says). From the statement of counsel for the defence it appeared that the plaintitt. who was an uncle of the defendant, had taken her for a trip to Wellington, but had subsequently charged her with the expenses incurred on the trip. As the young lady in question waa a minor, and the plalntiffl did not appear, the case was struck out. SNIFF UP, GARGLE or SWALLOW
