WELLINGTON NOTES.
(From Ouk Own Cohbeßi»ondknt.l January 16. Tho Wellington District Committee met on Tuesday to consider the case of a. prominent North Island owner, disqualified for two years by the Wellington Racing Club. Only one of the country delegates put in an appearance. At the request of the owned concerned, who put in a doctors certificate,, and to allow him to be represented by counsel, it was decided to adjourn the inquiry until to-day. The country delegates were all urgently requested to attend. It is understood that the Hon. T. M. Wilford will appear for the owner concerned. It is reported that H. Gray will have the mount on Menelaus in the Wellington Cup. A. Reed will probably ride Mascot. Arch Lassie, who has previously been trained at Ellerslie, has gone into C. Pritchard's stable at Trentham. Several of Mr W. R. KembaH's team have been engaged at the West Coast meetings next month, and it looks as if the Australian trip. has been put off for the present. The postponed meeting of the Feikhng Jockey Club was held on Saturday last, and was a success both from a racing and financial point of view. The Martian gelding Vagabond won the principal event. He had not won since he scored in the Great Northern Guineas over a year ago. Probably because he was ridden by H. Gray, Vagabond was sent out favourite, and he won decisively from Rewi Poto. The Judge placed Bronk Delaval second, and did not place Rewi Poto. The latter's backers made themselves heard. At the request of Mr J. M'Mahon, Mr Perrett, a steward of the club, who acted as judge, altered the decision.
