WOMEN TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION.
WELLINGTON, January 9. The annual conference of the New Zealand * "Women Teachers' Association commenced to-day, Miss Chaplin (Canterbury), president, in the chair. The finances of the association _ were reported to bo flourishing, the credit balance being £SO 15s 6d. A remit that each position should have a fixed salary was referred to the Taranaki district, and the executive was authorised to take action on receipt of information. It was resolved that in the case of marriedl teachers there should be an additional allowance of £ls a year for each child under 16 years of age.
