THE JOHN M'CLASHAN COLLEGE.

Mr G. G. Hancox, M.A.j has been appointed senior resident master of the John M'Glashan College, Maori Hill. Mr Hancox was a lieutenant in tho New Zealand Expeditionary Forces'in France, and was wounded at the Somme in October, 1916. He returned to New' Zealand in March, 1917, and since his recovery has had charge of the Annat Public Schc<iJ, Canterbury. Mr and Mrs Hancox will reside in the new dormitory building, which is now practically completed, and which is to be known as Balmacewen House. It has been decided to award no prizes for the year 1918, but the following pupils will receive certificates of honour for gaining over 80 per cent, average in all subjects throughout the year:—David Tannock, Lawrence Milne, and tAridrew Tylee. Others have been awarded certificates of merit for gaining 75 per cent, or for obtaining the highest increase in the average percentage in all subjects throughout the year. The presentation of certificates will be _ made on the occasion of the official opening of Bahnacewen' House early in first term.

The Y.M.C.A. will continue to work for each with the fullest strength of its organisation, as it has done in the Camps, at the Base Depots and in the Trenches. Free Membership for Twelve Months .Will be given to all returned soldiers. If you have served with the I&Z. Forces, it is only necessary to apply to the Secretary of the nearest Y.M.C.A., when a free membership card will be issued entitling you to all the privileges of the institution.
