Breurs and W. Bruce. Pay Corps. —Major P. Brandon. MEMBERS OF THE EMPIRE ORDER. Infantry.—Captains H. Eastgate, H. E. M'Gavin, and C. R. Magnay. Medical. —Captains R. Staples and Brown. Artillery.—Captain G. H, Forsythe. Ordnance. —Captain N. J. Levien. Postal.—'Captain D. A. M'Curdy.—A. and N.Z. Cable. Colonel Eugene J. O'Neill, who has received the decoration of Companion of St. Michael and St. George, was born in Dunedin in 1875, and graduated M. 8., Ch.B., at the Otago University. In 1902 he went to South Africa as Surgeon-captain to the Sixth New Zealand Contingent. At the close of the war he went Home to further prosecute his, studies, and then returned to his native oity. He' joined up with the Main Body oa the outbreak of the present war, and went to Gallipoli with the rank of Major. He served through the campaign at Gallipoli, gained the D. 5.0., and was promoted to Lieutenant-colonel. After the evacuation Lieutenant-colonel O'Neill went to Egypt with the New Zealanders, and then proceeded to France with the Field Ambulance. He was then transferred to the New Zealand Stationary Hospital in France ic take command, and in 1918 was appointed to take oharge of the Walton-on-Thamea Hospital. In that year he was promoted to colonel. He has been twice mentioned in despatches.
