CHRISTOHUIICH, January 11. Sentence was promulgated today in the pases of Privates George Deane and Herbert Edward Granger, who had pleaded amity beforo a district court-martial yesterday. Deane was charged with having ftbsonted himself without leave and with having failed to connect with his reinforcement draft at Ashburton on April 29. 1918. Ho was sentenced to 15 months' £ard labour. Granger was sentenced to a similar term of imprisonment. He had been charged with disobedienoo of the law-

The accused pleaded that he did not know he was called in the ballot, but the evidence showed that in his effort to evade tbo police he gave a false name and produced another man's C2 certificate.
