DESERT COLD AND BIPLANE.
HOPES OF A MEETING. SYDNEY, January 9. As Desert Gold's departure for New Zealand has been so long delayed, the hope is expressed in sporting circles that her owner will allow her to remain for the Randwiclr autumn meeting, thereby enabling tho long-looked-for test with Biplane to eventuate. It is stated that Biplane's present owner would not object, and Mr Dowry has always been eager for such a meeting. January 11. Mr T. H". Dowry's Desert Gold is training steadily at Randwick.
A Press Association cable message froan Sydney reports the death 'of the famous hurdler Obi. Carrying list he won the V.R.C. Grand National Hurdle Race in 1913, and in the following season, with 11.11, wan runner-up in the Australian Hurdle Race. A Sydney cable states that the racehorse Greg has been purchased by Mr H. R. Denison for 1625 guineas.
