DISTRICT COURTS-MARTIAL
SENTENCES CONFIRMED AND PROMULGATED. The findings of district courts-martial held at Trentham Camp on December 19, having been confirmed by the Commandant of the New Zealand Military Forces, are promulgated : Private D. Smith, Details (late A Company, 43rd Reinforcements), found guilty of (1) When under orders for active service, deserting his Majesty's service; (2) losing by neglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries, is sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for one < year, with stoppages to pay for deficiencies in kit amounting to 4s sd. Private E. Atkinson, Details (late B Company, 42nd Reinforcements), found guilty of : (1) When under orders for active service, deserting his Majesty's service; (2) losing by neglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental Jiecessaxies, is sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for one year, with stoppages to pay for deficiencies in kit amounting to £3 Is 7d. Private J. Minchin, Details (late G Company, 41st Reinforcements), found guilty of: (1) When under orders for active service, deserting his Majesty's service; (2) losing by neglect his equipment, clothing, and regimental necessaries, is sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for pine months, with stoppages to pay for deficiencies in kit amounting to £2 19s 2d. The finding of district court-martial held at Trentham Camp on December 17, having been confirmed by the Commandant of the New Zealand Military Forces, is promulgated : Private A. Blanchard, Details; found guilty of disobeying in such a manner as to show a wilful defiance of authority (a lawful command given personally by his superior officer, in tho execution of his office), is sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for two years.
