MINERS ON STRIKE.
DISPUTE AT PAPAROA. GREYMOUTH. October 24. | The minors at Paparoa are on strike, over a certain place being included in “Cavil.” The strike is based on the ground of bad ventilation. The inspector of mines made two tests, and found 750 cubic feet of air per minute in the first test. In the second
I test a brattice was broken by a shot which I had been fired, but even then 350 cubic feet i were shown. The Mining Act provided for ! only 300 cubic feet. J Octobor 23. The Paparca mine is still idle. Mr P. Reed, the chief inspector of mines, made tests on Saturday, and found a supply of 550 cubio feet of air. per minute, so that ho considered the place in dispute amply ventilated.
