WESTERN TAIERI DRAINAGE BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Western Taieri Drainage Board was presided over by Mr Kempshell, in the absence of the chairman (Mr Jumps Miller). Mr Doull, Henley, applied to have the pumping level lowered by 6in. —To be reduced in winter mpnths. Accounts amounting to £319 3s 3d were passed for payment. The following works recommended were agreed to: —Cleaning of Wylie's Creek diversion; drain from Mr J. Sutherland's to Granton farm; river bank, Momona. to Allanton. It was decided to purchase a fumigator for the purpose of exterminating the rabbits on banks. The reported that all rates for last year had been paid. So far as ho knew, this was the first year in the history of the hoard, and perhaps in the history of Taieri drainage that all had been paid. The rates for 1918-19 were levied. An increase in the amount was necessary. The total amount of ncreasre rates proposed above is equal to an increase of 2d per aero on "A" class ' land, with the proportionate increase on the remaining classes. In the several old board districts the rates are the same as last year, except the Henley river district This rate was reduced two years ago owing to an error by the Treasury Department. It is now nrlinstod.
