SIR DOUGLAS HAIG'S REPORTS.

Sir Douglas Haig's reports for the week were to the f ollowing effect: — Wo caried out successful operations on tho 2nd in tho neighbourhood of yicux Berquin and Merris (south-west of Bailleul), and advanced our lino slightly at these points. We took prisoner 93 men and captured a number of machine guns and trench mortars. Our casualties were light. We made successful raids southward of Arras, northward of Lens, and westward of Merville (Lys salient), and we repulsed raiders southward of Villers-Bretonneux. There was considerable hostile artillery activity between Albert and Serrc on the 3rd. Wo repulsed raiders m the neighbourhood of Beaumont-Ilamel and Bovclles. The French drove off an attempted raid north-west of Kemmel Hill, securing a few prisoners. Wo successfully raided in the neighbourhood of Lens, southward of the La Basso Canal. We repulsed a raid south-west of Morlancourt. As a result of an attempted enemy raid in the neighbourhood of Morlancourt we took 21 prisoners. A fresh enemy attempt to raid our line south-westwards of Morlancourt was repulsed with loss. Another party who rushed a post in the. neighbourhood of Boyellos were repulsed. There have been attempted, raids northward of Lens, northward of Bethune, and eastward of Nieppc Forest. The French repulsed local "attacks in tho neighbourhood of Locre, and improved their lino in a successful local attack. We raided a post in a Strazeelo sector. We made successful raids in the neighbourhood of Hulloch Strazccle. Artillery work is active northward of Albert and south-east of Arras. We carried out raids on trenches southward of Arras, inflicting casualties. The French carried out a successful minor enterprise eastward of Dickebusch Lake (southwest of Ypres). There was hostile artillery fire above normal intensity on the Bth between Villers-Bretonneux and Albert and between Givcnchy and Rubccq.
