WAITATI METHODIST JUBILEE.

jubilee services at me vvaitau Methodist Church on the sth attracted largo congregations, who highly enjoyed the ministrations of the Revs. W. A. Hay (Dunedin) and S. H. D. Poryman (Port Chalmers). ■On Tuesday, 7th, the church was filled to overflowing for a concert and social reunion, at which congratulatory addresses, greetings, etc., were given. The Rev. S. Griffith (chairman of the Otago district), who presided, congratulated the Methodists of' Waitati upon their _ half century of Christian activity. Cordial congratulations were also tendered on behalf of the Presbyterian denomination by the Rov. A. M. Finlayson, and the Rev. J. C. Jamieson. Methodist congratulations were conveyed by the Revs. W. A. Hay, J. R. Nelson (NorthEast Valley), O. Burnet (Mosgiel), and Mr J. P. Simon (Dunedin). A sheaf of telegraphic and written messages of greeting and congratulations, from ex-Waitatians and former ministers in the circuit was produced by the Rev. S. Poryman, the senders including tho following:—Miss Bell (Stirling), Messrs F. B. Fox, J. W. Long, J. Easton, Revs T. A. Joughin (president of Conference), W. C- Oliver, J. Ward, O. H. Standage, G. T. Marshall. T. Fee, H. Bull, J. D. Jory, W. L. Salter; also from the Rev. W. M. Grant and A. Whyte (Port Chalmers), and Rev. R. Raine. Mr G. L. Asher sent musio books used by the choir 50 years a ,T o. During an interval presentations were made to Mrs E. Morns and Mr H. Bland (two members who wero present at the foundation stone laying of the church), Mrs Hilgendorf (the organist), in recognition of lengthy and faithful service. An enjoyable programme of vocal and instrumental music was provided by Mrs Lowe, Miss Poryman, Rev. W. A. Hay, and the Waitati Orchestra, tho music including that given at tho opening of the church. 'Refreshments were provided during the proceedings,' which terminated with the National Anthem, the Doxology, and the benediction.
