Apart from the matter of an increase in relation to the ever-rising cost of living, there is need of inducement to young persons to enter the profession, in wheih there is an acute shortage now. Mr Hunan submitted recommendations to Cabinet, and the Government has given approval of increases to probationers and training college students. The question of improvements in the salaries and allowances for pupil teachers is now under the Minister’s consideration.
