WOMAN COMMUTED FOR SENTENCE WOODVILLE, May 10. In the court to-day, before Mr Reid, SIM., Martha Hutchens, formerly clerk of the Woodville County Council, pleaded guilty to charges of stealing sums aggregating '£565 from the council. The total amount of tho defalcations was over £I2OO, but it was reduced to the amount stated by the deductions of sums appearing in the books as having been received but not received. The books were in a most chaotic state, causing the Government auditor great trouble and weeks of hard unravelling.
