DON’TS FOR PARENTS. Don’t disperse your smiles abroad, and reserve your frowns for home. Don’t chide in the presence of strangers. Don’t punish your children and then regret it, and afterwards fondle them. Don’t be so unkind as to unduly pet your children; this is only a sacrifice of them to your selfish weakness, and a positive unkmdness to themselves, enervating them for the severe strife of life. Don’t be down upon or pet any particular child. Don’t make mountains of mole-hills of their faults. Don’t treat your girls as if they were never to become women.
