Clarence Gillan, aged 17 yea>rs, and employed as a shipping clerk at Messrs Sar» good, Son, and Evven, was admitted to the hospital on the 20th ult. suffering from a broken collarbone and injuries to his side. It appears that ho collided with a dray while cycling to his homo in Broughton street, South Duriedin. The Hospital authorities report that he is progressing very favourably. Late on Saturday, 27th ult., Mr Thomas Edward Mulhcrn fell out of a trap when driving from Winchester to Gerakline, sustaining injuries which caused his death. At the inquest it was stated that deceased lost his pipe, alighted to look for it, and when ho got back into the trap, fell out on to the roadway. The base of hi 3 skull waa fractured, and a verdict -was returned that death was caused by deceased falling from a trap. A peculiar accident befell Maggie Florence, of Crookston, Southland, last month. She. placed a 101 b tin of honey on the fire to melt. It melted from the bottom and came to a boil, while the top etill remained hard, and thus prevented any escape of steam. While she was close by it suddenly exploded, and the boiling contents were thrown over her. She was badly scalded about the face, and so far is quite blind. Her face is also badly disfigured. The force of the explosion may be imagined when it is stated that the boiling honey spread to the oeiling and walls of the room. The sufferer is progressing as well as oan be expected, and it is hoped that her eyesight may not be permanently injured. William Gamble, widower, aged 80 years. who 'was knocked down by a tram on April 27, died in tho Auckland' Hospital on the 3rd.

A 16-year-old boy named James M'Demotfc English, the only" son of Mr Joseph English, a Gisborne taxi proprietor, died on the 3rd inst as the result of a shooting accident. In the morning Mr English was taking his family out in his car. A stop was made in a suburb, and the ladi descended from the car. As he did bo ft rifle in the car exploded, and the chargo struck him below the right eye. He never rallied. , ' Henry H. Metcalfe, civil engineer,. of Auckland, engineer to the Whakatane Harbour Board, dropped dead on the beach while inspecting the harbour works on the 3rd inst.

Charles Anderson had a narrow escape from death at Raurimu on the 2nd. Ha was driving the sawmill's locomotive, -which. was ' hauling logs over a bridge, when the* frcnt wheels left tho rails. Tho engine fell down a gully 80ft below. Anderson, though badly scalded and bruised, crawled up tho eully, and when found was taken to the Taumarunui Hospital. The body of Elizabeth Hill, 69 years of age, wife of a well-known resident <J Oamaru, was found in the Oamaru Creek on the 4th. The lady left home about 10 a.m. for a walk. Her death ifl believed to have been accidental. A lad named Grant "Wilson, aged 17 years, a farm hand at Seacliff Mental Hospital, was admitted to the Hospital on Saturday evening suffering from%a fracture of the right ankle, caused through his jumping off a dray with which a horse bolted. /
