MIILBURN AND CLARENDON.

March 11. —Very dry, hot weather has been experienced here lately, and while it is fine for harvesting it is playing up with the turnips and grass. The blight has made its appearance in the swedes, and some of tho later crops of soft turnips are almost a failure. The grass, too, has gone off in a remarkable manner, and some people are getting short of water. Thrashing.—The thrashing mill ie out again, and. some long days were put in last week. The yield of grain varies considerably, a::d so far there have been no big returns. Wedding.—A wedding of more than local interest took place at the residence of Mr and Mrs <T. Brabyn, Clarendon, on February 20. when Miss Mabel Brabyn was united, in matrimony to Mr A. 11. Jamieson, of Waiwera. A beaiitiful day favoured tho celebrations, and tho ceremony was performed by Mr J. Cawle-y, assisted by the Rev. J. Jamieson, "Waitati, brother of the bridegroom. Miss Ethel Brabyn was bridesmaid," and Mr Stanley Edwards, of Waiwera, was best man. After the ceremony an adjournment was made to a large- marquee, where tho wedding breakfast was served, and the young couple left shortly afterwards for Dunedin, and will take up their residence at Waiwera. The presents

were numerous, useful, and costly, and I noticed several cheques among them. In the evening a large party of young people assembled, and parlour games and competitions were joyously played. Personal.—At a meeting of the Patriotic Commitee Messrs J. Wisely and _ J. M'Growther Were elected to the committee in place of Mr A. P. Grieg, who has left the district, and the late D. M. Marshall, killed in action in France..
