" AMICABLE SETTLEMENT. (Feom Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, March 8. The following announcement was made by the Prime Minister after a meeting of the Cabinet this afternoon:— " The little difficulty that has existed in Cabinet for some time has been amicably settled.-" Mr Massey would eay no more than this. Everybody has known for weeks that Sir James Allen and Mr Russell have not been agreeing with each other. Sir James Allen has obiected to a dual control over returned sick and wounded men. .For some purposes these men are under the" Defence Department's control, and for other purposes under that of the Health Department. The two departments and the two Ministers have impinged sharply more than once, and the trouble had to come before the Cabinet sooner or later. The arrangements made have not been divulged, but the Defence Department is resuming ; complete control of practically all institutions for returned' sick and wounded soldiers.
