A sugar famine_ is being- experienced at Rangiora (according to the Lyttelton Times). Only lump and! brown sugar is procurable, and the grocers do not expect to be able to replenish, their stoelcs before next week. In iho meantime jam-making and fruit-preserving are suspended, except in cases where the housewife is fortunate enough to have a. supply of suitable sugar on hand.
