CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES. The adjourned conference of delegates from local industrial unions, convened by the Otago Labour Council, was held in the Trades Hall on the 28th, and was,attended by 58 delegates. The Hon. J. T. Paul presided, and the keen interest manifested on the opening night was well maintained, and it is anticipated by the delegates that the result will be wholly satisfactory to organised labour. The following remits were adopted atter full discussion: — Coach Workers. —" That a system _ or transfers be inaugurated between the unions so that a unionist will pay his subscription into the union under whose award he is working, and that no entrance fee be charged." , ,'.,'. P* the. great extensions in the employment of female labour in the dominion it is imperative for the protection of all workers (both male and female) that immediate consideration be given to the question of protecting their industrial interests by collective organisation, believing that such organisation will accomplish similar benefits for unorganised womeil workers as it has for thosfj already organised, this remit to be referred to the Otago Labour Council with a recommendation to take effective action." Engineers. —" An amendment of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act to provide for the registration of the reoognised general rules of trade unions, including benefit rules."
