DUNEDIN BURNS CLUB.

Those Scottish members of the community, and others, who attended the monthly gathering of the Dunedin Burns Club in the Art Gallery Hall on the 20th, thoroughly enjoyed themselves, finding the entertainment very much to their teste. The attendance was very large, and those present showed their appreciation of the various items submitted in no uncertain manner, demanding encores in almost every instance. The Chairman (Mr W. B. M'Ewan) stated that he had received from the Soldiers and Sailors Help Society of Edinburgh a letter expressing appreciation of the donation of £l6 4e, which had been forwarded by the club to assist the society in its work of securing employment for disabled soldiers and sailors. The anniversary gathering last month had proved highly successful, and had yielded a handsome profit—considering the times. The club had also lent assistance to the effort of the Salvation Army on " Flag Day," and lie wished to thank the ladies in charge of the stall, at which £l7 18s had been taken. The speaker made sympathetic reference to the death of Mr Crerar, a late member of the choir, also to the death of Dr Bedford, who had assisted the club on more than wio occasion. The musical portion of tfie programme was then entered upon. The programme was of a very high standard of excellence throughout, many of the items being: marked by genuine merit. The concert began and concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
