CHARLTON.—On February 3. 1918, killed while In action. "Somewhere In France," Lieutenant Arthur Harry Charlton (N.Z. Rifle Brigade, 28th Reinforcements), second son o. William Charlton, Clinton, Otago; aged 38 years. Nobly ho lived, nobly he died. OOOMBE.—On February J2B, at Tidworth Military Hospital, Bugler George H. Coombe, only beloved son of Hugh.>. ana OeUa Coombe, Milton; aged 22 years. So loved, bo mourned. HAWORXH.—On February 1, 1918, killed while in action (Belgium), Lieutenant Ashley Aston Haworth (N.Z. -Medical Corps), dearly beloved eon ol Christina and the late George Haworth, 15 Mardale street, Roslyn; aged 2d years. Nob now, but in the coming years, It may be in the Better Land, We'll read the meaning of our tears And then we'll understand. We'll catcjb. the broken threads again And finish what we here began; Heav'n will the mysteries explain, And then, ah, then, we'll understand. MAWDSLEY.—On February 4, 1913 killed while in action, Gunner W. Mawdsley, third son of Mrs E. O.- Mawdsley awl <fhe late H. N. Mawdsley, Otokia; aged 83 years. OSBORN.—On January 10, 1918, killed while in action, Gunner Clarenoe Osborn, N.Z.F.A., 27th Reinforcements (late N.Z. Garrison Artillery), third son of Alexander and Mary Osborn, 61 Wickliffe terrace, Port Chalmers; aged 21 years.—Waimato and Macclesfield papers please copy. RENDALL.—On February 10, 1918, at 26th General Hospital, France, from pneumonia, Thomas George, eldest son of Katarina and William Randall, 10 St. Andrew street; aged 34 years. SPARROW.—On February 5, 1918, died from wounds "Somewhere in iFranoe," Charles G. Sparrow (Machine Gun Corps), dearly beloved son of John and Mary Sparrow, * Gladstone road, Mosgiel; aged 21 years. Somewhere in France there's a sacred spot, 'Tis a grave just newly made, And it's sheltering our boy from perils and ills With which life's battle is played. THURSTON.—On February 5, 1918, killed while in action "Somewhere in France," Victor, the youngest brother of George Thurston, 6 Duddingstone steps, NorthEast Valley. A young life sacrificed.
