The groat shortage of slaughtermen waa referred to at a sitting of the Third Wellington Military Service Board. The representative of one of the meat companies told the board that instead of 120 —a full complement —his firm now had only 68 slaughtermen. The tallv was thus reduced from £XX)O to about 5200.
