WEST TAIERI DRAINAGE BOARD.
The monthly meeting of _ the Western Teieri Land Drainage Board held on Monday, was presided over by Mr James Miller (chairman), and there was a full attendance of members. The Acting Engineer reported that satisfactory progress had been mado during the month with the contract for tho reinstatement of tho embankment at Otokia. Tho foreman brought the following necessary works under the board's notice, and he was instructed to have them carried out as quickly as circumstances would permit:— Plastering pump shed, shifting box Otokia drain, _ repairs Berwick bank, and repairs to railing, contour bridges. Correspondence was considered re cost of cleaning Wylie's Creek drain. The figures submitted snowed the cost of cleaning the drain had been £53 15s, equal to 3s 8d per -ohain for 237 chains. —Notedl-
Messrs Solomon and Gascoigne wrote, on behalf of Messrs Marshall, Thomson, and party, Smith, Hamilton, and Wilson (Berkley ratepayers), that in view of the faefc that they received no value whatever from the operations of the board, it was altogether inequitable that they should continue to be classified in class A as at present. ' They asked for a reclassification.—■ It was decided to hold the matter over. Accounts amounting to £440 16s 2d weral passed for payment.
