CLUTHA PRESBYTERY.
The Clutha Presbytery met at Milton on the 13th inst.; present—Rev. Mr M'Dowall (Modeiator), and Messrs Currie, Ponder, Durward, and Morton (ministers), Brabyn, Rose, and Fleming (elders), and Oawley (home missionary). It was agreed to express the Presbytery's very sincere sympathy with Mr Hugh Russell, of Glenledi, from time to time a member of Presbytery, on the death of his only son from fever while on active service. It was agreed to express the Presbytery's pleasure at the fact that Mr Fleming (home missionary of South Molyneux) had sufficiently recovered to resume work. The records of the Kirk Session and the committees of management of Balclutha, Milburn, Waitahuna, and Lawrence, and of the committees of management of Kaitangata ahd Lovells Flat were examined and found well and regularly kept. Mr Durward drew attention to the Church's indebtedness for free copies of The Nation, issued in connection with the Luther celebrations. An appeal had been made to the presbytei les, but the response as yet was very poor. Attention was again.called to the Presbytery's obligations to St. Margaret's College, Duncdin, with the hops that the congregations within the bounds would respond to the appeal made for financial assistance in connection with the new building. Attention was also called to the opening of the John M'Glashan College, in Duncdin. —lt was agreed to commend the college to the Kirk Sessions and Deacons' Courts within the bounds. Arrangements were made for the nrcsbyterial visitation of three of the congregations next in order. Messrs Morton (convener), M'Dowall, and another were appointed a commission to visit Stirling; Messrs Mason (convener), Williams, and Fleming to visit Waropa; and Messrs Webster (convener), Loan, and Smaill to visit Balclutha. It was decided to appoint Mr Morton Moderator of Milburn. Mr Ponder gave notice that he would move at noxt meeting thai, the Presbytery at its \Milton meeting meet on a day othwr than Wednesday—probably earlier in the week.
