Very little private business has been done in stock during the past week owing to sales held at Waimahaka, Woodlands, and Wallacetown. A large number of cattle have como on the market, mostly this sear son's calves and 18-month.ers, light stuff. A few lines of three and three-andLa-half-year-old bullooks have been offering,-also a fair number of empty heifers and oows for fattening. In most classes cattle are slightly easier than they have been for the past few weeks, with the exception of 18-month calves, which stilt maintain high values All classes of sheep are selling freely, especially young ewes, and any good lines of mixed sexes, store lambs and wethers remaining firm. (From Our Own Cotirespokdent.) INVERCARGILL, February 16. The volume of business in the stock market has not be6n on a large scale, agents being busily engaged with the delivery of sheep and lambs sold for forward delivery, and farmers srcnerally fully occupied with harvest work. A good demand still exists for all classes of stock, Canterbury buyers being still in the market. A number of sales of sheep are reported. mostlv in lines of from 500 downwards, but the transactions include one line of 100 sound-mouthed station ewes at 33s and a line of 1000 mixed-sex lambs at 225. Other sales took place at the following prices:—

Failing-mouthed ewes, with lambs, 245, all counted; two-tooth ewes, 34s j mixed six and eight-toothed ewes, 30s; full and fail-ing-mouthed ewee, 22s 6d; sound-mouthed ewes, 29s and 30s; rape ewes, 235; twotooth wethers, from 28s 6d to 30s; mixed sex lambs, from 2159 to 245; mixed-sex halfbred lambs, 16s 6d; hill wether lambs, for March delivery, 10s 6d and 17s. ALDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRIST-CHURCH, February 13. At the Addkigton market iheie w<re larger yardings in almost all departments, but especially in sheep and fat lambs. Buyers of store sheep were much in evider.ee. Store lambs showed a further weakening, wethers were also a little easier, but there was a keen demand for ewes, which included several North Island consignments. Fat lan-bs were down about Is to Is 6d per head, especially on medium and unfinished lots, exporters paying 8d per lb over all. The yarding of lambs totalled 6680, and was the largest of the season. Fat cattle sold well at a shade under lost week's rates, and exporters were unable to secure more than a few head. Fat sheep were also easier, especially ewes, and light conditioned wethers were easier, and graziers operated in unfinished lots. Store cattle were dull of sale. Dairy cows and pigs sold well. The Go-operative Fruitgrowers of Otago (Limited) report-—Supplies of fruit have been lighter during the week,, and those wanting to secure peaohes, apricots, nectarines, and plums should lose no timo in placing their orders; otherwise they are likely to bo disappointed, as the season is practically over. Some nice consignments of ooars and apples arc coming on to trie market, and full supplies of tomatoes are now available. . Eggs have been short of requirements,, and prices have advanced Potatoes are meeting a 'dragging sale, and the same applies to onions. Poultry is in keen demand. Butter is meeting a better inquiry, and honey is eagerly inquired lor for export, .8d .per lb being obtainable. At our skin and tallow sale srood values were securod.
