MIDDLEMARCH NOTES.
MLDDLEMARCH, February 13. Gladbrook Estate has been the campingground of a survey party during the past few months. Tho different phases of survey work, which were necessary in few of tho forthcoming subdivision of tho property, have hadl due attention, and will soon have reached finality. In fixing the various boundaries, care has been taken to utilize existing fences wherever possible, thus reducing to a minimum the cost of future fencing operations. Considerable inconvenience has been _ experienced by Strath-Taiori residents since the telephone service was extended to Clyde. One wire has to carry the business of both places, and it has proved to be quite insufficient. Long waiting for distant connections is the rule, and it is very rarely that one can communicate with the desired locality without this undesirable delay. A requisition for a second wire has been largely signed and forwarded to headquarters in the hope of procuring greater facilities. At a sitting of the Mirldlemarch Court on Friday last, two offenders were charged with being drunk and disorderly. Messrs W. D. Mason and Alex. Horn, J.P.'s, found both the accused guilty, and fines of £1 and £3 respectively, with costs, were imposed.
