MOMONA.

February 18.— weather has been experienced during the past fortnight, with occasional gleams of bright sunshine. On several occasions the temperature has been very high. Tho Harvest.—Harvesting is In full swing throughout tho district, but progiess is slow on account' of tho persistant rein showers. Much of tho wheat is badly laid, and is very difficult to handle. Many ■ fields have to bo cut one or two ways only, and this is necessarily a slow process. A. good deal of the wheat which has lodged has not filled very well, and tho quantity of groin ■will probably be small in proportion to the bulk of straw. Winter_ Peed.—The showery weather hius been of immense value to the turnip crops, which are making rapid growth. In some fields the covering of shawa is so dense that it is impossible to discern which wav the drills are running. There are few blanks to bo soon in any of the fields, and it is tho regular crop which stands the most fecd-

ing, not tho field with the roots largo and far apart, but the field with the roots oxtering each other, as the Scotch people say. It is some time since wo have had a promise of such good turnip crops as this season. Mangolds are also growing very rapidly, but there is only a small area under this crop. Th« grass is lasting wonderfully well, and there will be an abundance of feed for some timo to come. Blight.—Tho potato blight is spreading rapidly, and I am afraid there will not be a great many sound tubers m this locality. Sunday School Picnic.-The annual Sunday school picnic was held at Woodside on Saturday ]&. The weather was fine, and the outing was most enjoyable. __„_,„* Personal.-Mr Wallace Bruce is £ PW* a patient in a Diuiedm hospital. His many friends will wish him a speedy and permanent recovery.-Mr J. A. Bruce, who disposed of his farm here some time ago, has purchased another property at Kelso, and will bo removing there shoruy.. Mr Mid Mrs Bruce always took a part in everything that was going forward in our district, and we will th c m ma variety of ways.-Mr Ford M'Hatt e, who has been in camp for sever a months, has been discharged as permanently unfit, ana has returned to his home here.
