I The 1914 Star is to be issued to all sol- ! diers of the British and Indian forces, including civilian medical practitioners, nurses, and others employed with military hospitals, who served in France or Belgium with a British unit between the outbreak of war and midnight of November 22-23, 1914. It appears that at least 70 Now Zealanders who" were in Europe at tho time qualified for the decoration. Of these, unfortunately, a considerable number have since been killed. From the records kept in the London office of the Otago Daily Times the following lists have been compiled, the first containing the names of New Zealand soldiers who have since been killed but whose relatives nevertheless will receive the star,' and the second, those still on service. .
