WANGAtfUI, February 12. In the Supreme Court to-day John Clark, travelling auctioneer, was found guilty of setting firo to premises at Stratford, and sentence was deferred. . Catherine Milne came up for sentence on charges of attempted suicide and attempted murder of her child. Mr Justice Edwards deferred sentence, in order to consult the other judges. James Dickson was found guilty of-'committing an unnatural offence. His Honor said tho prisoner was an old hand from Vancouver, and ho regretted that he had not power to order deportation. The prisoner was sentenced to Eve years' im23risonment February 15. Mr Justice Edwards to-day sentenced/ John Benjamin Clarke to six- years for arson- at Stratford. The evidence disclosed that prisoner was an Australian spieler. Catherine Milne was sentenced to five years' reformative treatment for attempted murder and suicide. February 16. In tho Supreme Court to-day Douglass Campbell Waldio was found guilty of giving assistance to a reservist (Killalea) to enable him to escape N service. He was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment. Mr Justice Hosking said he agreed with the jury's verdict. It was a grave matter in these times, but, in view of the jury's recommendation to mercy and the accused's previous good character, he would not inflict the full penalty of three years.
