WRECKAGE OFF EAST COAST.

PART OF VESSEL WASHED UP. AUCKLAND, February 18. The police constable stationed ati Ta Araroa Bay, about 100 miles north of Giaborne, lias wired to the Collector of Customs that part of a wrecked vessel has been washed up on the beach at To Araroa Bay. The wreckage is apparently that of a three-masted wooden schooner, and only about 124 ft of the keel, flooring, and part of the eides are left. A few American coins, and a bale of hooks, etc., were also found. There is every indication that the wreckage is that of a vessel lost during the recent storm. VESSEL EVIDENTLY BURNT. GISBORNE, February 18. The wreckage was found at Te Araroa, about two miles from the township, in the direction of Hides Bay. A number of benzine cases, charred, and 100 benzine tin labels furnish indications that the vessel was burned from the wateriine up quite recently. A man's hat was found, bearing the mark of a San Francisco firm inside the band, and a piece of a newspaper dated Juno 17, 1917. The only other personal property comprised American coins of the date 1917. a pair of spectacles, and a eet of Ic 1 " A eeth.
