TERRITORIAL CAMP AT INVERCARGILL.
The first Territorial camp of the season opened at Invercargill Show Grounds on Friday of last week, when 120 men under Captain Nichol, went in for the annua] eight days' training. Most of the men are drawn from tho Bth Regiment, but there are a few frorti otKer regiments, whom the early camp suited. The men aro entirely housed in the show ground buildings, and not a yard of canvas is to be scon. Lieutenant Trcgear is camp adjutant, and has the following staff under him : —Warrant Officer H. Sutton. Quartermaster Davis, and Sergeant-majors Bcgbie. Fraser, Stock. MilJer, Greenalj, Bleach, G. Macao. Hon. Lieutenant Ferguson (retired list) is also in camp as acting quartermaster. On Tuesday morning last Colonel Sir James Allen (Minister of Defence), accompanied by Major Crowther, inspected the encampment. The Minister made a personal and minuto inspection of the camp arrangements, and closely inspected the
squads at work. He expressed his satisfaction at the completeness of the camp and the work being carried out.
