Stock N -agents have been busy delivering sheep and lambs sold forward, and consequently business has suffered to some extent in volume. Still a good number of sales are reported of sheep, which are in good request, buyers from Canterbury being particularly keen. The lines have, however, been generally of modest dimensions, ranging from 500 downwards, though one line "of 900 rape lambs changed hands at 21s 3d. Other sales were at the following prices ewes and lambs, 25s (all counted); full-mouthed ewes and lambs, 23s (all counted); failing-mouthed ewes and lambs, 22s 6d (all counted); extra choice two-tooth ewes, 375; sound-mouthed station ewes, 31s; fat wethers, 35s 6d; rape ewes, 255; fat and forward lambs, 245«; ewe lambs, 235; rape lambs, 22s to 22s lid; three-quarterbred lambs, 19s; small lambs, 17s; cull lambs, 12s. _ Cattle of all descriptions are in demand, especially by buyers from Canterbury, whither some 300 head have gone during the week. The sales have included two and a-half year old steers at £l2 and £l3; fat cows at £lO to £ll, mixed sex yearlings at from £5 10s to £6 10s; and calves at from £3 to £3 10s. SOUTHLAND STOCK MARKET. (From Our Own Correspondent.). INVERCARGILL, February 9. Business in all classes of stock continues fairly good, a considerable quantity changing hands. The fat sheep market has eased somewhat, prices bein<r Is 6d to 2s per head less than a few weeks ago, and it is probable that, with the large quantities that will soon come on the market, prices will recede further, as butchers will not be able to take them all, and they are still above freezers' ideas of values. Pricee of cattle continue to be wonderfully firm, but here also we must look for a weakening within the next month or six weeks. When the grass goes off in the autumn there is always a strong influx of store cattle into

the market and a fall in price. There were a good many fat cattle forward at the Wallacetown sale on Tuesday, more than sufficient for the local demands, and Drices receded Is to Is 6d per lOOlb. Prices maybe quoted : Fat cattle—Ox beef, 46s to 47s 6d; heifer, 43s to 445; cow, 41s to 435. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, February &'. At the Addi/ig'ton market to-day the yardings of fat cattle and fat sheep were smaller, and those of fat lambs and' store sheep were larger, than on the previous "week. There was a full yarding of store cattle, but a moderate- entry of pigs. There was a large attendance, especially of store sheep buyers. Fat cattle were firmer at the opening of the sale and eased , in the middle, but recovered again at the end, on the whole being irregular. The average prices were about the same aa on the previous week. The storo sheep market was easier, lambs easing off in some cases 2s per head and 1 both withers and ewes showed some decline. Fat lambs were firm at late rates, graziers taking most of the unfinished lines to go on rape. Fat sheep were very firm especially wethers, which showed a distinct rise. There was a fair demand for store cattle at advanced rates. Dairy oows sold well, as did all classes of pigs.
