Whatever else may be said about Austria's rule over her Slav subjects, sho has not neglected their education. This fact has become quite clear to those who arc now engaged in ,tho registration of the Jugo-Slavs of the Auckland district. Of several hundreds of Dalmatians and others who have so far answered the official call only two have been found who havo been unablo to read and write. In most eases, also, their penmanship compares favourably with that of Now Zoalandcrs.
