The conditions on the slopes of Mount Cook are considered to have been good for climbing this season, and several ascents of the mountain have been made (says the Dominion). The latest of these was made on Thursday by Mr Hall, of Auckland—•who had already climbed to the top of Mount, .Cook in company with Guide Graham and Miss Holdsworth. of Hawke's Bay—and Miss Lorimer. of Nelson. The last-nanied J alpinist had been within a short distance of the summit on the occasion just referred to. Mr B. Turner, who went to the Southern Alps a few weeks ago with tin intention of climbing Mount Cook Ring"'•handed, attempted this feat last Tuesday. FTe made good progress, and had lravi'r-vd the bad, rocky places, and reached el"nr snow, when his knee gave way, and be b-id to return when only 1 COO ft from the top. Mr Turner was to make another attempt on' Friday.
