EVENING TRAINS.
CHRISTCHURCH, February 8. Arising out of representations made by the Lyttelton Harbour Board, the Minister of Railways has decided to institute a late train service between Lyttelton and Christchurch from the 18th inst., leaving the port at 9.45 p.m. The provision of a night train, it is hoped, will facilitate the working of the port and remove any grounds for intercolonial and other vessels passing by Lyttelton. The waterside workers have refused to work cargoes in the past after six in the evening, owing to the withdrawal of' the train service, and as a consequence, shipping has been subjected to serious delays, and in some cases vessels have cut out the port altogether, so as not to be inconvenienced.
