Tlie annual mooting was held qn Saturday, 2nd inst., the retiring president (Mr F. Atkinson) in the chair. The annual report, which was adopted, expressed regret at the death of Mr Wrn. Charters and the loss the committee has sustained thereby. The committee's sympathy was extended to the widow and relatives. During the year the groat war had been brought home to the society by tho death of sons of prominent members. Resolutions of sympathy and condolence had been remitted to Messrs Jas. Robertson, R. Beattie, P. Spratt, and \V. Moynilian at the loss of their gallant eons while in action. Mr T. Fraser was on servioo at the front. The funds of the society had maintained their usual buoyancy. The committee for the ensuing year was brought up to its usual strength, and it was resolved to proceed with the society's work as usual. THE WEATHER. (From Our Own Correspondent.) GERALDINE, February 9. Tho rainfall registered hero for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day was 18 points. There were drizzle and rain at night, after three, hot and sultry days and two nights, .with scattered drops of rain. HA.KATARAMEA, February 9. The rainfall registered at Station" Peak for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today was 27 points. The weather continues very hot

and sultry, with more rain threatening. The barometer has been falling steadily during the past few days, and is now low. HILLGROVE, February 9. The rainfall registered here for the 24hours ended 9 a.m. was 33 points. The total for the week is 1.97 in, which, with the accompanying high temperature, ,is damaging stooked crops and hay.
