At. a meeting of tli© board of the Metropolitan Trotting Association to-day th© matter of the ownership of the mare Syrie was referred hack to the Auckland Trotting Club for decision. <, It was decided to disqualify J. J. Cotter, of Southland, and the horse. St. Quentin, otherwise Shrapnel, for three years for registering the horse in two names. In a letter which was read at th© meeting Cotter, "who races as C. Joyce, expressed regret for the offence, and stated that his reason for registering the horse under two names was a desire to mislead the person from whom he purchased St. Quentin, as he had been given to understand that that person was going to have a plunge on the horse.
