A SEDITIOUS STATEMENT.
AUCKLAND, February 1. Egcrton Grill was to-day lined £2O and costs (£4 lis) for publishing- a seditious statement in a pamphlet entitled "The First Duty of a Citizen is to Obey the Law," which the magistrate held had a tendency to discourage the prosecution of the war, and excite or encourage opposition to the enforcement or administration cf the law relative to military training. Alexander Vail, charged with aiding and nbcfctisig, in that ho printed the pamphlet, was fined £3 and costs (£2 9s).
