CANTERBURY CROP PROSPECTS. (Peb United Press Association.' CHRISTCHURCH, January 29. There have been no samples of new wheat yet shown on the market, but somo thrashing is expected to be done during the week. It is apparent that there will be some disappointment in regard to the yield of a number of wheat crops, as it has been found that, although tho_ heads are well grown, it is not grain that is in them, and there are instances where whole paddocks are affected in both North and South Canterbury. The cause is unknown, and the loss will not be definitely ascertained until thrashing has taken place. There are not many oats offering and prieos aro unchanged.. There is a little business being done in eariv crop of potatoes at £4 5s at country stations for delivery within a week or two. The crops along the coast north of Christchurch are- not as healthy as they might bo, having apparently boon affected by the recent damp easterly weather. There is a little inquiry for new oat-sheaf chaff at £4 for immediate delivery, and £3 10s for forward delivery at country stations. CLEARING SALE OF DAIRY COWS. Messrs Wright.
