EXPORT OF APPLES.
WELLINGTON, January 25. A deputation of fruitgrowers waited on the Prime Minister to-day with reference to obtaining facilities for the export of apples. The deputation stated that the crop was looking particularly well, better than for the past three years, and they expected there would be a surplus for export if shipping space were provided. The Hon. Mr Massey said he would communicate with tho Imperial authorities to ascertain if there wero a possibility of making arrangements for the surplus to be forwarded to the English or any other available market. Regarding the question of increased railway freight, tho Prime Minister
said tho Minister of Railways was indisposed, but when ho was about again ho (Mr Masscy) would confer with him on the subject.
